The Story Behind Albaik’s Success

Shakour Abu Ghazala, founder of AL Baik restaurant, introduced the broasted chicken concept in Saudi Arabia in 1974. He opened a second branch in Jeddah in March 1976 but passed away just 5 months later. Despite his demise, his vision and passion for great food lived on through AL Baik, which remains a beloved institution in Saudi Arabia to this day.

The Story Behind Albaik’ Success

Charity is the Key to Success. Here is a well-known Islamic Hadith (saying of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him) regarding charity:

Charity does not decrease wealth, no one forgives another except that his honor increases, and no one humbles himself for the sake of Allah except that Allah raises his status.” (Sahih Muslim)

The success of Al Baik is attributed to its charitable acts. The owner donates one riyal for every broast chicken sold, and recently it is said, that the sons of Shakour Abu Ghazala began donating two riyals for each sale.

Through the practice of charity, Muslims are reminded of their responsibility to care for the vulnerable members of society and to promote equality and justice by sharing their wealth with those in need. Albaik’s Success is attributed to their generosity.
